To apply for a a place

If you apply for a place for your child between 2 and 31 March 2020, you will need the following documents:

Everyone:

your child's identity card or the gummed health insurance label
 

Priority group Dutch-speaking parents:

1. Proof of one of the parents' proficiency in Dutch. 1 of the following documents:

  • As a minimum a diploma of Dutch-speaking secondary education or an equivalent proof of study obtained through Dutch-speaking education
  • A certificate of the 2nd grade of the 3rd stage of secondary education or an equivalent proof of study obtained through Dutch-speaking education
  • Proof that the parent has as a minimum attained Dutch proficiency level B2:
    • a proof of study issued by a school recognised, financed or subsidised by the Vlaamse Gemeenschap
    • a level certificate issued by the Huis van het Nederlands.
  • a SELOR certificate of 'sufficient command' of Dutch or higher
  • Proof that the parent regularly attended Dutch-speaking primary and secondary education for 9 years (a certificate issued by the schools concerned)

2. Proof of the relationship between parent and child: an extract from the population or aliens register or from the waiting list.
 

Priority group GOK/non-GOK pupils:

GOK: 1 of the following documents:

  • Proof that the family was in receipt of a school allowance during the 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 school year.
  • A declaration of honour that the mother does not have a diploma of secondary education, a certificate of the 2nd grade of the 3rd stage of vocational secondary education, or similar proof of study.

non-GOK: no documents required

Furnish the school with these documents between 30 March and 30 April 2020. Provide the documents in time. Otherwise your child will not be given priority status. In that case, your child's application will remain valid but it won't have priority status.Mind: the schools are closed during the Easter holidays.

Are you registering your child at the school itself? Or are you collecting a "place application unsuccessful" document? Make sure to take the following documents with you:
 

To register your child for 1A in a school that operates an application procedure

  • Your child's place allocation notification
  • Your child's identity card or a gummed health insurance label

 

For all other registrations

Everyone: your child's identity card or the gummed health insurance label

non-GOK: no documents required

 

Where can I find the place allocation notification?

On 8 May 2020 at the latest, you will receive the place allocation notification by e-mail. Didn't provide an e-mail address? In that case, you will be notified by post. You will also be notified via the 'Inbox' in your application file.

I do not have any gummed health insurance labels

No gummed labels left? Then contact your health insurance provider.

Didn't receive your gummed labels yet? The school will help you out.

I don't have any identity card (yet).

No identity card? Take your child's birth certificate or visa with you when you go to the school. No identity card yet? The school will help you out.
