To nursery school

ATTENTION: Due to the corona measures (COVID-19), the dates of the application and registration procedure have been adjusted. You will find the current information here.

Children can attend nursery school as soon as they turn 2.5 years of age. Each year, there are various dates at which they can start school. Register your child in advance! Was your child born in 2018 or earlier? Then register it now, even if it isn't due to start school until 1 September 2021.

Nursery school caters for children between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years. Nursery education is important for your child's development as this is where it will learn to play with other children, to work independently, learn new words, motor skills and plenty more.

Nursery school is not compulsory. The compulsory school age for children is to be lowered from 6 to 5 years as from the 2020-2021 school year.

My child was born in November - December 2018. Should I register it already?

Yes. If your child was born in 2018, you should register it now, even if it is not due to start school until 1 September 2021. What if you decide to wait? The longer you wait, the fewer the places!

My child is going to school already. Do I still need to register it for next school year?

No. Once your child is registered in a school it will remain registered there. Registrations are valid for all the elementary school grades.

Is your child due to go from 3rd infants to the 1st grade of primary school? Or would you like to send it to a different school? In that case, you may have to register your child again.
